Europeana Photography al CRDI

Els passats 22 i 23 de Maig es celebrà a les instal·lacions del Centre de Recerca i Difusió de la Imatge (CRDI) del Servei de Gestió Documental, Arxius i Publicacions (SGDAP) de l’Ajuntament de Girona, el taller Digitization systems and procedures in photographic image archives, en el marc de les activitats promogudes per Europeana Photography.

Aquest projecte te per objectiu la digitalització i difusió de 500.000 imatges que representin els primers cent anys de la Fotografia, de les primeres imatges de Fox Talbot i Daguerre a l’inici de la 2ª Guerra Mundial. Al projecte, coordinat per Alinari24Ore, hi participen diverses institucions de diferents països europeus. En aquest marc, el CRDI te la responsabilitat de proveir estàndards en digitalització i catalogació. Aquest taller, pensat per unificar criteris en les tasques de digitalització dels originals del projecte, ha estat impartit per els professors Carles Mitjà i Bea Martínez del Image Quality Laboratory (IQL) – Centre de la Imatge i la Tecnologia Multimèdia (CITM) ubicat al Campus de Terrassa de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).

Al taller hi han participat membres de les diferents institucions i organitzacions que formen part del projecte Europeana Photography, provinents d’Itàlia, Anglaterra, Àustria, França, Dinamarca, Holanda, Bèlgica, Polònia, Eslovàquia, Grècia, Bulgària i Lituània a més de Catalunya amb representacions de l’Arxiu Nacional de Catalunya, el Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya i el Museu d’Arqueologia de Catalunya.

The past 22 and 23 May was held at the facilities of the Centre de Recerca i Difusió de la Imatge (CRDI) by the Servei de Gestió Documental, Arxius i Publicacions (SGDAP) of the Girona City Council, the workshop  Digitization systems and procedures in photographic image archives in the framework of the activities promoted by Europeana Photography.

This project aims at the digitization and diffusion of 500,000 images representing the first hundred years of Photography, from the first pictures of Fox Talbot and Daguerre  to just before the beggining of World War 2. The project, coordinated by Alinari24Ore, is participated by institutions from different European countries. In this context, the CRDI has the responsibility to provide standards for digitization and cataloging. This workshop, designed to unify the tasks of digitization of the project photographic originals  has been taught by the teachers Carles Mitjà and Bea Martínez from the Image Quality Laboratory (IQL) by the Centre de la Imatge i la Tecnologia Multimèdia (CITM) located at Terrassa Campus of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).

The workshop was attended by members of different institutions and organizations that are part of the Europeana Photography project, from Italy, England, Austria, France, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Poland, Slovakia, Greece, Bulgaria and Lithuania in addition to Catalonia with representatives of the Arxiu Nacional de Catalunya, the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya and the Museu d’Arqueologia de Catalunya.
