Carles Mitjà / Short Biography

I was born in Barcelona (Spain) on 1948. Graduated in Photography (BSc) by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), developed a period of more than fifteen years as a professional photographer. My work was mainly dedicated to the editorial, advertising and industrial photography. On my own, have been always interested in landscape, both natural and urban. From 1996 until 2014 have been exclusively devoted to teach Image Technology in the Center of the Image and Multimedia Technology (CITM) at the UPC Terrassa Campus. Since 2003, have been also Coordinator of the Image Quality Laboratory (IQL) at the same CITM. The IQL is an experimental and research laboratory working on the image quality metrics and digital image processing. Member also of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS), on February 2017 I received the ASIS/FRPS distinction (Accredited Senior Imaging Scientist and Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society). After my retirement on February 2014, I’m dedicated to develop my own photographic body of work. I take both natural and urban landscapes and also some still life. I use only Héliogravure (Photogravure on Copperplate) as a final art.
