Carles Mitjà was born in Barcelona (Spain) on 1948. Graduated in Photography (BSc) by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), he developed a period of more than fifteen years as a professional photographer. His work was mainly dedicated to the editorial, advertising and industrial photography. On his own, has been always interested in landscape, both natural and urban. From 1996 until 2014 has been exclusively devoted to teach Image Technology in the Center of the Image and Multimedia Technology (CITM) at the UPC Terrassa Campus. Since 2003, has been also Coordinator of the Image Quality Laboratory (IQL) at the same CITM. The IQL is an experimental and research laboratory working on the image quality metrics and digital image processing. He currently belongs Adobe Influencer Program. Member also of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS). From February 2014 is dedicated to develop his own photographic body of work. Recently, on February 2017, received the ASIS/FRPS distinction (Accredited Senior Imaging Scientist and Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society).
